How to replace DJ mixer crossfader

San Diego DJ, Justin Kanoya, shares his tips on replacing the stock crossfader on a Denon MC4000 with a Mini Innofader Plus. Although a revelation for many DJs who were thrilled to have a new ways to tweak and toy with the music they were playing, the DJM-500 and 600 was a nightmare for sound guys like Fotias, due to its inferior sound quality — a compromise undoubtedly made to accommodate the new effects.
After the EQ, the signal is picked up by the channel's level meter (5), which shows the signal's volume after the Gain and EQ. Channel meters are useful because they allow you to properly set the level even for those channels that can't be currently heard on the dancefloor.

It is probably best at this stage to use the up-faders with their gradual curve from silence to full volume as the 'blending' faders and the crossfader as more immediate 'switch' between the two channels (assuming your mixer enables you to alter the crossfader curve).
Rane's build quality, sound quality, functionality, and ultra-tight and smooth magnetic crossfader have all kept me on their products. The Mixfader is a portable (like the size of an actual fader) unit that works over Bluetooth to perform the duties of - yes, you guessed it - a crossfader.

As music technology has progressed, DJs have adopted different types of equipment to play and mix music, all of which are still commonly used. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, try to listen through the record to see how the instrumental elements fit around the beat when it is present, then return to the start and cue up the record.
The Behringer Digital Mixer X32 Motor Fader is designed for the X32 digital mixing consol. To try to simplify things for consumers, and to make installation dramatically easier, Audio Innovate has now invented the INNOFADERPNP. Replacement Crossfader for Stanton SK5 DJ Mixer, Stanton Item CF-SK5.

In order to fine-tune and prepare upcoming tracks, without people in the room hearing what you're doing, all DJs use a monitoring system, that absolutely requires headphones. By keeping exactly the same BPM, the same speed and time, beat-matching guarantees a complete mix, whatever the material used be it vinyls, CDs, media players or DJ controllers.
The Seventy-Two is the closest thing to a full controller layout in a DJ mixer on the market. Cue Mix makes it possible for you to hear (in your headphones) any channel, even one that's not currently routed Serato to the dancefloor. If you do decide to mix with your up-faders, make sure that the cross-fader curve isn't linear, it means that the cross-fader can be anywhere in the middle and the volumes are the same.
However, I have found you can still perform the majority of scratch techniques with even the most basic controller. I use it because i like to cut tracks back and forth sometimes, especially if i'm playing some break beats. DJs also create mixes, remixes and tracks that are recorded for later sale and distribution.

I feel like anyone coming to the mixer from a controller setup like a DDJ-SX2 should feel fairly comfortable with the pads, but anyone coming from an older Rane mixer or even the DJM-S9 might feel a little overwhelmed at first. This mixer does a great job of combining the performance pad paradigm (first found on the classic Novation Twitch) and the more traditional, high quality battle mixers of old.
